THE STORY BEHIND GLOW UP

From Knowing to Glowing

 

​From a young age I knew I was destined to do some sort of beauty trade.  I would paint my nans nails in all sorts of colours and would be left feeling so proud that i'd made little masterpieces.​ 

 

However upon leaving school I decided to venture into a completely different industry and completely lost my motivation with creating art and making people feel great about themselves.  I sold lampposts of all things, although I was good at it, it wasn't my calling.​

 

After a few events during this time in sales and also finding out I was going to be a mom to my little boy I decided I no longer wanted to work for someone else, I wanted to do something I was really and truly proud of and to push myself into something new.​

 

So I signed up to learn my first beauty course and enrolled onto a Nail Technology course and learnt so much from a tutor named Hollie who eventually turned out to be a friend of mine, career catalyst and eventually a business partner at one point.​

 

So as the course was coming to an end I'd mentioned that I'd love to be able to teach and give something back and after 6 months thanks to Hollie, I'd landed myself a teaching role in an Academy in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham where I gained my teaching/assessing qualifications and a huge amount of experience teaching with class sizes of 10+.  Some days were hard work, very hard work but at the end of every cohort I always felt a sense of achievement and proud I'd helped someone else to start their journey like I once had.​

 

After enjoying a few years teaching in Birmingham I felt I needed to do more, almost like I needed more of a challenge and seeing how the business could possibly be ran I decided to apply for my own accreditation with ABT (Associated Beauty Therapists) and embark on a journey of teaching and opening my very own Beauty Academy alongside my business partner!  Hours and hours of work went into this and we opened a place in a small office space in Sutton Coldfield and things seemed to kick off really well and we had lots of enquiries and bookings.​

 

With me never being satisfied I decided to sign up to a degree at UCB Birmingham and set myself a challenge of getting a degree in Aesthetic Practice and after hours upon hours of blood, sweat and tears I now hold a degree!​

 

Now this comes to (I wouldn't call it the end) the current part of my story, I decided to bring Glow Up back to the front of my concentration and start giving back again.  I've moved it from Sutton Coldfield to Netherton, Dudley where I can fully concentrate on it.  I have now combined it with my salon work and changed the name to add in all of my expertise hence the name Glow Up Beauty, Aesthetics and Training.  Its all started back up with a BANG!
